On Tuesday, the girls track team traveled to Central City and won second overall with 126 points. With many girls being gone or injured, underclassmen were able to step up to the plate and show how they wanted to win by having great times and leaving everyone proud.

Coach Dunlap stated. “We put a couple kids in a position that was new to them and they really stepped up and competed well. In particular freshman Lilly Kraft who placed first in all four of her events. She was fun to watch! Also freshman Sadie Boeckenstedt who jumped at the chance to get into the 4x400m relay to fill in for one of our seniors who was not feeling well. We have a few events we haven’t quite figured out yet but the girls are stepping up and filling in some of those remaining roster holes.  This team keeps surprising me.”

Not only did the runners have a great night but the field events did as well. “We had two place finishers in both events and all three ladies threw a PR or season best in the disc event,” noted Coach Helle.
